Working on “Catan Sternenfahrer” alongside Kosmos
As creatives, there are moments that transport us back to the joy of childhood. For our team at Studio Merkas, such a moment came when we received a message from Kosmos, a brand whose games and products were cherished companions in our youth. The opportunity to collaborate with a company whose games had sparked countless moments of laughter and joy filled us with an indescribable feeling.
What made this collaboration even more special was the close proximity of our studios. Being only a few houses apart, the collaboration felt very personal. However, in reality, our teams had never actually met or seen each other, as each of us were working remotely on the tasks at hand.
The journey began when we received a request for the project "Catan Sternfahrer," a project that reflected our nostalgic connection to Kosmos’ products. Initially tasked with assisting in the animations, we eagerly immersed ourselves in the project. With great attention to detail, we brought to life the vision outlined in the storyboards provided by the editorial team at Kosmos.
Working on the Project
Although the details of the framework and technology used in this project are confidential, we can say that in our collaboration, we primarily utilized Unity animations, employing a carefully crafted workflow. After we had submitted our work and received the news that the project was accepted without any issues, we had a "play and fun day." On days like that we come together and celebrate our small victories and dedicate an entire workday just for playing together at the Studio.
Throughout the project, discussions were held regarding the possibilities of future collaboration. The prospect of a partnership for upcoming Kosmos products filled us with great enthusiasm. It's evident that our values align seamlessly and are based on a shared vision. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement and continuous nurturing of a brand that has brought joy to countless households worldwide, and we would very much like to support the Kosmos family in all future endeavors and be a part of the Kosmos universe.
