How can complex intralogistics solutions be presented in a modern, flexible, location-independent way with maximum informational value? That was the question facing Interroll, one of the world's leading providers of material flow systems. Together with Studio Merkas, a tailored solution was developed: an interactive 360° app for iPad, used as a versatile presentation and sales tool.

The Challenge: Complex Products, Many Use Cases

Interroll develops modular conveyor solutions used in airports, logistics centres and industrial manufacturing, among others. The range spans from pallet conveyors and turntables to vertical lifts. All solutions are combinable, scalable and tailored to individual requirements.

Until now, presenting these systems was a complex undertaking. Product demonstrations had to take place on-site or were facilitated through large showrooms. The goal was to simplify these processes while still representing the systems in a realistic and comprehensible way.

Our Solution: A Digital Showroom in Your Pocket

In close collaboration with Interroll, Studio Merkas developed a platform-optimised iPad app that delivers an immersive and intuitive product experience through 360° video recordings captured in real production facilities. The application guides users through several virtual factory environments, accompanied by interactive elements and detailed product information.

Explaining pallet conveyor technology is no easy task, if only because you can't simply pull a large conveyor module out of your pocket and show it. It became surprisingly straightforward, however, after a brainstorming session with Nikola. He immediately had the idea of an application based on 360° videos filmed in our test facility. This gives the customer a direct glimpse into reality while providing a wealth of information and inspiration. And inspiration was something Nikola gave us in abundance — how to set everything up, what to keep in mind, what options are available and where the technical limits lie.
