Interactive User Manuals for Trade Shows
How can complex intralogistics solutions be presented in a modern, flexible, location-independent way while delivering maximum informational value? This was the question posed by Interroll, one of the world’s leading providers of material handling systems.
Together with Studio Merkas, a tailor-made solution was created: an interactive 360° iPad app that serves as a versatile presentation and sales tool.
Interroll develops modular conveyor solutions that are used in airports, logistics centers, and industrial manufacturing, among other areas. The range extends from pallet conveyors and turntables to vertical lifts. All solutions can be combined, scaled, and tailored to individual requirements.
Until now, presenting these systems was complex and time-consuming. Product demonstrations had to take place directly on-site or were showcased in large showrooms. The goal was to simplify these processes while still presenting the systems in a realistic and easy-to-understand way.
In close collaboration with Interroll, Studio Merkas developed a platform-optimized iPad app that uses 360° video footage from real production facilities to provide an immersive and intuitive product experience. The application guides users through several virtual factory environments, accompanied by interactive elements and detailed product information.
Users can freely move through real production environments without the need for additional hardware such as VR headsets.
Interactive hotspots provide detailed insights into individual product components, complemented by three-dimensional visualizations and technical data sheets.
The app includes different manufacturing areas and application scenarios tailored to Interroll’s international markets and customer requirements.
Each section is designed to present complex processes in a clear and visually engaging way.
The app showcases conveyor technology like the Roller Conveyor PM9715 in 3D — including technical data and dimensions.
Complex systems such as the Infeed Conveyor PM9740 can be intuitively rotated, zoomed in, and explored in detail.
Users can freely navigate through real production environments and experience Interroll solutions in action.
The app’s modular structure provides quick access to conveyor solutions and their technical information.
The Interroll app quickly established itself as a central tool in the sales process. Especially at international trade shows, in showrooms, and during customer meetings, it offers a significant advantage:
All products and all information are bundled and easily accessible on a single iPad.
The app replaces the complex transport of real modules, significantly reduces marketing and production costs, and at the same time enables a convincing, media-supported product presentation. Entire trade fair booths have already been built around the app — clear proof of its functionality and relevance in real-world use.
The Interroll app has become a tool that perfectly bridges the gap between physical products and digital communication. It is efficient, intuitive, and can be used worldwide.
The modular structure, combined with immersive content, ensures that Interroll customers immediately understand what the products can do — all without any additional technical effort.
Explaining pallet conveyor technology is not easy, if only because you cannot simply pull large conveyor modules out of your pocket and show them. However, after a brainstorming session with Nikola, it suddenly became easy. He immediately came up with the idea of an application based on 360° videos that we produced in our test room. This way, the customer gets a direct insight into reality while also receiving plenty of information and inspiration. And Nikola provided exactly that — how to set everything up, what to consider, what possibilities exist, and where the technical limits are. From planning to implementation, we always had a competent contact person who kept our customer’s needs in focus. The finished application has become very popular among our sales colleagues worldwide and is used regularly. Projected onto a large LED wall at trade shows, it turned into a real visitor magnet. Mission accomplished. Thank you, Nikola and Studio Merkas — always a pleasure! (Translated)
